Montclair State University continues to climb in the national college rankings, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2025 Best Colleges list. The university has improved its position in several categories, reflecting its ongoing progress among America's top colleges.
In social mobility, which measures how well schools support economically disadvantaged students in achieving academic success, Montclair ranks No. 12 out of 434 national universities. This ranking highlights the institution's commitment to helping students attain the American Dream.
Overall, Montclair is ranked No. 152 among national universities, an improvement from its previous position at No. 163 in 2024. This marks the highest ranking the university has ever achieved.
Other notable rankings for Montclair include No. 81 among national public institutions and No. 106 among best colleges for veterans, both showing improvements from last year’s positions.
