Montclair State University has expanded its international engagement by signing two memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Indian institutions during a recent visit to India. The trip was part of a New Jersey delegation led by Governor Phil Murphy, and included President Jonathan Koppell and Kimberly Hollister, Dean of the Feliciano School of Business.

In New Delhi, Montclair State University entered into an agreement with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), which represents over 1,100 institutions in India. This partnership designates Montclair as the lead partner for higher education collaboration between AIU member universities and those in New Jersey. The focus will be on academic and cultural exchanges, joint research in sustainability and technology, as well as potential joint degree programs and innovation projects.

“Montclair State University is a public-serving institution, driven by our motivation to broaden access to an excellent education and solve pressing issues. That mission extends beyond borders,” said President Koppell. “We are excited to build relationships with AIU and across its many esteemed member institutions, so that we might together serve India and her millions of motivated students.”

In Mumbai, another MOU was signed with K.J. Somaiya College of Nursing. This builds upon previous collaborations where MBA students from both schools worked together on consultancy projects. The new agreement aims to address workforce needs for healthcare professionals in both regions by expanding educational opportunities in nursing and healthcare.

The university’s involvement in this initiative was facilitated by Choose New Jersey, highlighting Montclair's position as an innovation leader within the state’s higher education sector while reinforcing its commitment to global outreach.
