Katie, a student at Montclair State University majoring in Food and Nutrition Science, has found a new career interest in becoming a health inspector for restaurants. Her decision to attend Montclair was influenced by a friend who was already enrolled. "I didn’t want to have to go to college alone and try to make new friends," she said.

Katie's academic focus is on sustainable food systems within the College for Community Health. She resides on campus and values the community and educational resources available to her. One significant contributor to her adjustment to college life was the Summer Bridge Program. This initiative helped her start her college journey on a positive note.

Reflecting on her time at Montclair, she mentions chemistry lab as one of her favorite classes. Her advice to prospective students is to "look at Rate My Professors; that’s an important thing. That would probably be the best thing I’ve learned."

Her career aspirations shifted after attending a food safety class, where she found her interest in health inspection. Katie's journey at Montclair State University showcases how educational experiences and peer connections can shape future goals and career paths.
