The Montclair State University Board of Trustees has welcomed a new member, Sheila Rostiac, following her appointment by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. The announcement was made on Monday, September 30. Rostiac's appointment was confirmed with the advice and consent of the state Senate.
Rostiac is an executive at PSEG, where she serves as Chief Human Resources Officer and Chief Diversity Officer. Her responsibilities include leading the Human Resources team to foster an inclusive culture and managing Corporate Communications to enhance corporate reputation. In 2022, she took on additional duties overseeing Corporate Security & Properties.
Board Chair Kent Sluyter expressed enthusiasm about Rostiac joining the board. "Sheila brings years of leadership in strengthening inclusivity and accessibility in the workplace, experiences that will be assets for the Board and the University," Sluyter stated.
Rostiac has been with PSEG since 1997, holding various roles in Finance and Human Resources. She has also worked with Schering Plough, Jersey Central Power & Light, and Arthur Andersen & Co., gaining experience in global human resource management and financial roles.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Rostiac is active in community service. She chairs the board of the Center for Energy Workforce Development and sits on several other boards including The Drumthwacket Foundation. Her community involvement includes serving as a corporate executive sponsor for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Rostiac holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lehigh University and a Master of Business Administration from Centenary College. She completed a nuclear reactor technology certificate program at MIT.
Expressing her gratitude for her new role at Montclair State University, Rostiac said: “I am honored to join the Board of Trustees of Montclair State University... I thank Governor Murphy for nominating me and am grateful for Senators Bucco, Pennacchio, New Jersey Senate Leadership and members of the Senate Judiciary Committee for their vote and confidence."
