Cost of college went up for all students at William Paterson University of New Jersey

In-state tuition and fees rose 3.2 percent for 2018-19 at William Paterson University of New Jersey, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New Jersey residents paid $13,060 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $408 more than the $12,652 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 62.8 percent more than residents this year, or $21,260. Their price tag grew 8.2 percent from $19,654 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New Jersey residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 90 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,086 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9.6 million and 891 students took out student loans totaling more than $5.7 million.

Including all undergraduates (10,198), 5,553 students used grants or scholarships totaling $39.3 million, and 5,383 students took out $36 million in federal student loans.
