The Passaic County Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs (DCHA) is responsible for the operation of several historic sites and facilities throughout the County. In operating these sites, the DCHA develops and implements cultural programs, exhibitions and displays, grant programs, historic research and comprehensive reports, heritage tourism campaigns, and restoration projects – all to encourage public awareness and visitation to the County’s cultural assets. The Department also assists other County Departments and municipalities by reviewing projects with matters concerning historic sites and structures, administer arts and historic preservation regrant programs; and support the arts through county-wide art initiatives.

Current Job Openings:

Administrative Assistant (Part Time Permanent)  - Assists the Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs by performing varied secretarial and program support functions. Includes record keeping, preparing resolutions, forms, etc., processing of permits, and billing.

Museum Registrar (Part Time Permanent) - Under the supervision of the Museum Curator and Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs, the primary function of this role is to assist with the logistics of collections management from moving artifacts and artwork, documentation, and preparing incoming and outgoing loan agreements.

Museum Attendant – The Clifton Museum (Full Time Permanent) - The primary function of this position is to operate The Clifton Museum at the Hamilton House and will assist in the planning and execution of daily museum functions there; including but not limited to exhibit installations, preservation of existing collections, guiding visitors, and performing clerical and other museum-related duties as required and/or assigned.

Museum Attendant – Programs (Full Time Permanent) – Under the direction of the Director of the Department of Cultural & Historic Affairs, the primary function of this position is to assist in the development and implementation of education programs, exhibition calendars, special programs, interpretive signage and historic markers, and to support grant administration functions of the Department.

Archivist (Contracted Term) – For a year term position, the archivist will work on inventory, organization, creation of finding aids, and digitization of the County’s Olmsted and Park Archives Collection.
