71 percent of applicants to Montclair State University were admitted for fall 2018

At Montclair State University, 88 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 61 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year public institution in Montclair enrolled 21,115 students in fall 2018, including 16,988 in undergraduate and 4,127 in graduate programs, data shows. 9.6 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

95 percent of undergraduates are residents of New Jersey, and 5 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (40 percent) and Hispanic or Latino (29 percent).

The school admitted 71 percent of the 14,324 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 31 percent enrolled.
